Thomas Renard is currently a Research Fellow at EGMONT (Royal Institute for International Relations) in Brussels. His research focuses on the multipolarisation of international affairs (in all dimensions, from economy to military) and the strategy developed by the European Union to cope with emerging powers.

He is a PhD student at Ghent University, where he deepens his theoretical knowledge about multipolar systems, and the EU instruments known as strategic partnerships.

He is a member of the Reseau Multidisciplinaire d'Etudes Stratégiques (RMES). He is also a Senior Associate Fellow at the Center on Global Counterterrorism Cooperation and heads their Brussels office.
